About MelloToons
Animation for small children that does not wind them up.
What we do
Deliberately slow animation built on the opposite principles: long shots, gentle pacing, natural sound, limited palettes, real narrative with pauses, and no cliffhangers between episodes so stopping is easy. Every episode has a stated developmental intention, emotional vocabulary, patience, curiosity about the physical world, and a companion note for the parent about what to talk about afterwards. No advertising, no autoplay, and an explicit end to every session so the device is put down without a fight.
Who we built it for
Parents of children aged 1 to 5 who allow some screen time and are uneasy about what it does to their child's behaviour afterwards. Educated, willing to pay, and currently choosing between nothing and something they dislike.
Why this is hard to copy
The pacing principles are a genuine product decision with observable consequences, and they are unavailable to competitors whose economics depend on watch time.
Being subscription-funded rather than advertising-funded is what makes the design choice possible, and the guilt this addresses is universal, permanent and currently unaddressed.
How we find customers
Parenting communities, particularly those oriented around screen time concerns, plus paediatricians, speech therapists and early years practitioners who are asked what is acceptable and currently have nothing to recommend.
The one promise
The free tool on this site is genuinely free and genuinely useful. It does not withhold the answer behind an email form, it does not degrade after a trial, and it does not exist to harvest your data. If it helps you and you never pay us, that is a fine outcome.
